Care safety is a major objective for all players in the healthcare system. The Ministry of Health is organising the 5th Patient Safety Week (SSP) from 23 to 27 November 2015 to promote communication on healthcare safety and dialogue between patients, users and healthcare professionals.
This annual campaign to raise awareness among healthcare professionals and users is an integral part of the National Patient Safety Programme (PNSP), announced on 14 February 2013 by Marisol Touraine, the French Minister for Social Affairs, Health and Women's Rights. One of its aims is to put the spotlight on patients as co-players in their own safety.

To mark the occasion, scrolling pens will be distributed to patients and healthcare professionals at the Chantecler clinic.
The scrolling pen, which is practical to carry around, will serve as a reminder of the instructions to be followed regarding personal treatment and the 5B rule for professionals:
A patient's personal treatment can be defined as all the medicines being taken at the time of admission. It is important for patients to give their personal treatment to their carers as soon as they arrive, so that it can be analysed and medication errors avoided (overdose, side effects, incompatibility, etc.). The personal treatment will be returned at the end of the patient's stay.
Safe drug administration is based on the 5 Bs rule: administer the rightdrug, in the right dose, on the right route, at the right time, to the right patient. The 5 Bs represent objectives to be achieved, for which strategies are defined and implemented. This rule is a preventive tool that should guide every action taken when administering medicines.
